The hosted platform around the open engine — shared dashboards, live data connectors, and AI-assisted figure building. The charting library stays free and source-available; Cloud is what you buy when you need live data, collaboration, or AI at scale.
Two things, licensed separately
The CanvasXpress library is free to use anywhere — including in commercial products — as long as the attribution mark it renders stays visible. Removing the mark needs a commercial engine license. That is unchanged and independent of the plans on this page.
CanvasXpress Cloud is a separate subscription for the hosted dashboards, live connectors, and AI chart generation described below. The attribution mark remains on every plan up to and including AI; only a signed Enterprise agreement white-labels the hosted output. Your plan entitlement is carried by your account's license token — that token, not the mark, is what grants access to connectors, collaboration, and AI quota.

Cloud FAQ
Do I need a Cloud plan to use CanvasXpress?
No. The JavaScript, R and Python libraries are free and need no plan. Cloud is only for the hosted service — shared dashboards, live connectors, and AI generation. You can build and embed unlimited charts for free, forever.
What makes me need Pro instead of Community?
Two things: connecting to live data (SQL / streaming / frequent refresh) and collaborating with other people (shared, governed dashboards). Both are things the free library cannot do on its own. Drawing more charts never costs anything.
How does the attribution mark work on Cloud?
It stays visible on Community, Pro and AI plans, just like the free library. Only a signed Enterprise agreement can white-label the hosted output. This is separate from the engine commercial license, which lets you remove the mark in your own deployments of the library.
How is AI usage billed?
AI generation is sold as prepaid credit packs. Each pack tops up a balance that is spent one credit per generation; when it runs out you buy another pack. Nothing about AI gates the charting engine itself.
